U2 this morning announced a five-date run in September and October for its new “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere” show, the much-anticipated concerts that will spotlight the band’s 1991 classic at the brand-new MSG Sphere venue in Las Vegas.
The shows — set for Sept. 29 and 30, and Oct. 5, 7 and 8 — will feature Dutch drummer Bram van den Berg sitting in for U2 co-founder Larry Mullen Jr., who will be recovering from surgery.
Update: The band has now announced 17 dates in September, October and November. See them all below.
Ticketmaster’s email to Verified Fan users suggests more shows may be added: “Should any new shows be added, you will automatically be registered for the chance to buy tickets to those dates.”
Tickets begin going on sale at 10 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday, April 26, with two pre-sales: one for U2.com subscribers and the other through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan system.

U2.com subscribers will be able to request tickets to three of the shows, but, if their request is confirmed, will only be able to buy up to four tickets to one of the performances, according to the band. Ticket re-sale also will be limited for GA floor seats, with U2 taking a page from The Cure’s recent anti-scalping efforts.
According to the details of the U2.com member pre-sale:
In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, GA floor tickets for U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere will be restricted from transfer. They may only be resold at the original purchase price. Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange.
