The Cure’s “Shows of a Lost World” tour will hit these 7 South American countries

The Cure

Robert Smith had promised to reveal details of The Cure’s concerts in Mexico and South America by the end of April, and though that deadline came and went, he today revealed which South American countries the band expects to play on its Shows of a Lost World tour this year.

On Twitter, Smith wrote that “sorting out the deals is taking a bit longer than I thought it would,” but said The Cure plans to perform in 2023 in Mexico and seven South American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. “More details when they exist,” he added.

Following an extensive European trek last year, The Cure will be hitting the road in North America a week from today, opening the 35-date North American leg of the Shows of a Lost World tour in New Orleans, and performing in the U.S. and Canada through a July 1 date in Miami.

The tour will find Smith joined by his longest-serving bandmate, bassist Simon Gallup, as well as drummer Jason Cooper, keyboardist Roger O’Donnell and guitarist Reeves Gabrels. Smith surprised fans last fall by bringing back guitarist/keyboardist Perry Bamonte, who played in the band from 1990 to 2005.

Smith has not offered any update, however, on the status of the band’s next album Songs of a Lost World, which, at one point, he’d said could be released prior to The Cure’s fall tour last year.
