Sparks

RELEASE: The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte

The Wedding Present

RELEASE: 24 Songs
DETAILS: The Weddoes’ new collection of each of the singles and B-sides the band released each month through 2022 — a reprise of the Hit Parade project — is out this week in the U.S. on CD, though the vinyl/DVD edition won’t arrive until June 9.

Danny Elfman

RELEASE: Big Mess: Deluxe Edition
DETAILS: This mega deluxe edition of the ex-Oingo Boingo frontman’s 2021 solo album, originally out last year, is available again this week, featuring four LPs, an art print, a book and a “life-sized light-up model of Danny’s peculiar hand.”

Danny Elfman

RELEASE: Summer School: Music From the Motion Picture
DETAILS: Speaking of Elfman, this week also sees the arrival on CD and vinyl of the only one of his film scores that had never been released: the music he composed for “Summer School.” A soundtrack was issued back in 1987, but not the score.

The Waterboys

RELEASE: A Rock In The Weary Land: Expanded Edition
DETAILS: Mike Scott and Co.’s 2000 album is reissued this week in an expanded 2CD, 34-song edition with 14 unreleased tracks, as well as a double-LP set on blue vinyl that includes a 16-minute live version of “Savage Earth Heart.”
BUY: Amazon.com. Amazon.co.uk

Pere Ubu

RELEASE: Trouble On Big Beat Street
DETAILS: The band’s 19th studio album is out this week in a 10-song vinyl edition of a 17-song CD release. “Those extra seven tracks were too good to lose but took up too much time to fit on a vinyl release,” the band says.
BUY: Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk

Suicide

RELEASE: A Way of Life: 35th Anniversary Edition
DETAILS: The third album by the electro-punk pioneers, in 1988, is remastered and reissued this week on limited-edition trans blue vinyl, as well as on CD and digital. Several bonus tracks, including live version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA.”
