“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. A VERY special request – my birthday is next Wednesday (12/04/24) and I was wondering if you can dig up “The Loop” by Morrissey for NEXT Sunday’s show? I even had the pleasure seeing him live this past Saturday in Waukegan, IL. It was my 9th time seeing him in concert. Thanx!

  7. Kurt Johnson

Love the show Matt. Special request here. Jeff Runnings (For Against) as of today (11/25) has gone on hospice care. Jeff has always been a long time guru of the post-punk dark wave genre in addition to all his fantastic work with all the iterations of For Against. Having know Jeff for close to 35 years now, needless to say he has been a gigantic influence on my own musical tastes. Might you play “Autocrat” and/or “You only live twice”? Cheers!

  8. Echo & The Bunnymen – Happy Death Men (1980)
The Sleepers – Walk Away (1981)

  9. The Damned – Alone Again Or

  10. Anthony Volpe

Really enjoyed this one. Concrete Blonde have increasingly gone up on my list as of late! Never really gave them a listen until their show. Thanks!

Concrete Blonde, “Tomorrow, Wendy” (Live) (Bloodletting: 20th Anniversary)

My request is: “The Height of the Fighting” Heaven 17

    -Tony from Boston

  11. Really spectacular show Matt – I especially enjoyed the cuts by Concrete Blonde (my favorite song by them), The Cure, Moev, and the Sisters. A special thank you for playing my DM request…I think that song is highly overlooked from that album imo. Anyways…some possible suggestions for next time:

Ned’s Atomic Dustbin – Grey Cell Green
    The Pixies – U-Mass
The Jesus and Mary Chain – Down on Me

Happy Thanksgiving! And thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。

  12. Excellent show last night, Matt! I loved PIL, and MCL.

  13. Hour 1 for the win! My fave Skinny Puppy cut, underrated DM cut, thank you for playing my Weddoes request, all timers from The Smiths, Concrete Blonde, The Cure, For Against, and a Bunnymen b-side I hadn’t heard in years, wow.
Really enjoyed hearing KoD, Hula, and Go4 as well. And is “Alice” possibly the best Sisters song? It’s in my top 5 for sure.

Request for a future show: “Helicopter” by XTC

Happy thanksgiving to you and your family Matt, cheers!

  14. Tim Ostrander

Huge fan of your show, would love to here from the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club from Baby 81 America X

  15. There’s a “new” song just released by the Chills called “If This World Was Made For Me”. Can you please play it on a future show? It’s a really nice one.
Thanks for bringing this music to us every week!

  16. New Model Army – Master Race

  17. I loved the last show really cool songs, If you could possibly play “ In the cellar” by The Butthole Surfers that would be kick ass. I figured it kinda suited this week because of the lyric “and the turkeys talking backwards” and it’s almost Thanksgiving. This song is off of Rembrandt Pussyhorse if Im not mistaken, and it is really just a weirder psyched out sounding version of the song “ Creep In the cellar”. I prefer the psyched version but either would be cool to hear. The way Gibby Haynes sings in this song always reminded me of PIL a little. Thanks have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  18. Great show and month of DW’s! Looking forward to December!

    Here’s a request –

    RevCo – Mr. Lucky

    Thanks!

  19. I’m thankful for this show! No request this week just wishing Matt and all the dark wavers a happy Thanksgiving.

  20. Hey Matt – thanks for playing Sensoria, but you shouted out an “Aaron” for requesting it ….it was me

It’s ok, you are still awesome

Can you play me Pill Box Tales by the Cure to make it up to me ?

  21. Happy Thanksgiving, Matt! Glad to hear For Against again, this band perks up my ears every time I hear them. The Chrome track was a standout as well.

  22. Kevin Kuenkler

Absolutely love the show!!! Makes my Sunday evening just perfect!! I was wondering if you could play Twin Tribes “Fantasmas”? Thank you
