We check in once again on ‘Dark Wave,’ the Sunday night show on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave that this week featured cuts by Nitzer Ebb, Morrissey, Tones On Tail, The Chameleons, Ministry and more.
The highlights of tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave include The Swans’ cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart,’ a dash of German synthpop from Cetu Javu, The March Violets’ classic ‘Snake Dance’ and a nice Bauhaus/David J/Love and Rockets run toward the end of the show.
While this week’s installment of ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM featured a host of all-too-usual suspects (The Cure’s ‘Other Voices,’ Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Rise,’ The Sisters of Mercy’s ‘Lucretia, My Reflection’), there were, as always, some pleasant surprises, including ‘Bird Mad Girl’ from the aforementioned Cure, a dash of the always-welcome Chameleons and even a Chris Connelly track.
This week’s installment of ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave featured the usual staples (The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxise and the Banshees), plus a few nice surprises, such as Peter Murphy’s ‘Marlene Dietrich’s Favourite Poem’ and Tubeway Army’s ‘Are Friends Electric?’
To show our support for 1st Wave’s Sunday night ‘Dark Wave’ show — and the idea that Sirius XM should dig deeper all the time, not just once a week — tonight we begin posting each week’s playlist.
