The list of Cure releases that Robert Smith has promised would come out in 2010 and beyond is quite long, and includes a new studio album, a new remix collection, DVD reissues of old concert films, a new series of live DVD releases and a box set of material recorded for the BBC. Here’s a rundown of what might have been.

Sunday Best Recordings, the label that put out The Cure’s just-released ‘Bestival Live 2011’ double-disc live album in the U.K., has posted a pair of broadcast-quality clips of Robert Smith and Co.’s performance at the U.K. festival last September to promote the new release.
This week’s new releases include ‘Bestival Live 2011,’ a new 2CD concert album from The Cure, plus the box set Elvis Costello doesn’t want you to buy, a collection of early Cramps singles, three Meat Puppets reissues and domestic CD releases of recent sets from Peter Murphy, Gary Numan and The Dead Milkmen.
As The Cure wrapped up its second straight 48-song ‘Reflections’ concert in New York City last night (Friday’s show was only 46 songs long), frontman Robert Smith signed off by saying, ‘We’ll see you again next year’ — hinting that the revived band’s 2011 shows were no anomaly, and fans may see The Cure back on tour next year.
The Cure will release a 2CD live recording next month of its full, 32-song set at the U.K.’s Bestival this past September, marking the first official live album from Robert Smith and Co. since 1993’s back-to-back ‘Show’ and ‘Paris’ releases recorded during the ‘Wish’ tour — and the first time ever the band has released a complete concert on disc.
