This is a round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. May also include some other titles released in recent weeks but not previously featured. This week: Cocteau Twins, Game Theory, Heaven 17 and more.
The 4AD label next month will release remastered editions of the Cocteau Twins’ first and fourth studio albums — 1982’s Garlands and 1986’s Victorialand — on 140-gram black vinyl, completing the effort to put all of the band’s studio albums back in print on vinyl. Details right here.
Beggars Archive will reissue the Cocteau Twins’ 18-track compilation ‘Stars and Topsoil: A Collection (1982-1990)’ — originally released by 4AD in 2000 and spanning 1982 debut ‘Garlands’ through 1990’s ‘Iceblink Luck’ EP — in the U.K. early next year on a 2LP set on white vinyl.
This week’s new releases include ‘Dum Dum Bullet,’ a posthumous compilation from The Mission UK featuring rare B-sides, demos and unreleased material; ‘Box Set 1,’ an audiophile vinyl set from the Cocteau Twins; and expanded reissues of Madness’ ‘The Rise & Fall’ and ‘Keep Moving.’
Scottish dream-pop trio Cocteau Twins later this month will reissue their first three albums and a bonus EP on audiophile quality, 180-gram vinyl in a super-limited 5LP box set designed by 4AD’s famed Vaughan Oliver.
