Punk jokesters The Dead Milkmen will hold a belated hometown album-released party for The King in Yellow — their first album in 15 years, which the band self-released in March but is now set for wider distribution — when they perform the record in its entirety (“with limited commercial interruptions”) at a Philadelphia club next month.
The Milkmen — original members Joe Jack Talcum, Dean Clean and Rodney Anonymous, plus bassist Dan Stevens, who replaces the late Dave Blood — will play the album Dec. 10 at Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie, according to the band’s website. Ticketholders also are promised a free download of the 17-track album.
The band released The King in Yellow — the first new studio album from the Milkmen since 1995’s Stoney’s Extra Stout (Pig) — via its website on March 19; you can still buy it as a download or on CD that way. While the album has only been sold digitally at the major online outlets, the CD also will be available at Amazon.com beginning Dec. 6.

Saw them in Long Beach a few months ago, they are not to be missed. What a treat for Phily fans. Maybe they will actually ‘tour’ the album at some point.
