For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we turn to some newly uploaded clips — via dpallen — of the legendary Lou Reed hosting an episode some time in 1986. Above, you can check out a 7-minute clip of a very prickly Reed grilling Mark Josephson, co-director of the New Music Seminar, while, below, there are shorter clips of the rocker chatting with Suzanne Vega and telling a story about how Bono turned him on to Cactus World News.

I had read that Lou Reed’s look had inspired Bono’s “The Fly” persona (along with Elvis and Jim Morrison), but the third clip with the glasses and the leather jacket is a good illustration of the influence.

OK, add Lou Reed to my list of people that I’d love to meet but would be terrified to talk to, after Miles Davis, Mark E Smith, and John Lydon.
