Listen: Kristin Hersh debuts ‘LAX’ — first taste of forthcoming album ‘Possible Dust Clouds’

As she prepares to head off to England to play the Robert Smith-curated Meltdown festival, Throwing Muses frontwoman Kristin Hersh is offering fans the first taste of her upcoming solo album Possible Dust Clouds in the form of “LAX,” her first new material in two years.

You can stream the new song in full below.

Hersh’s June 21 performance at Meltdown has long since sold out, but she has booked 10 more solo shows in the U.K. — and one in Israel — around that festival appearance. Hersh will be supported on those U.K. dates by Fred Abong, former bass player for Throwing Muses and Belly, in what’s being billed as “a celebration of their long-standing friendship.”

Says Hersh:

“I’m thrilled to find some likeminded teammates in the shifting paradigm of the recording industry. Together, we can do a lot more damage than we could ever pull off alone, and damage is what’s called for when an old guard is falling. This is gonna be a swell party.”

Fire Records will release Possible Dust Clouds, the follow-up to 2016’s Wyatt at the Coyote Palace, on Oct. 5. Hear the new song, and see Hersh’s tour dates, below.
