The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019 will include one of the titans of alternative rock: The Cure, the dark-pop juggernaut that just celebrated its 40th anniversary and next year will be inducted alongside Roxy Music, Janet Jackson, Radiohead and more. Full details on next year’s inductees right here.
The Cure’s two much-coveted Record Store Day releases — 2001’s Greatest Hits and a standalone release of its limited-edition companion Acoustic Hits, both as 2LP picture discs — will receive a general release later this month on standard vinyl. They’ll be released on June 30.
More than a year after it was first announced, it appears the double-vinyl release of The Cure’s expanded ‘Entreat Plus’ live album finally will see a U.S. release on Record Store Day — although it’s not an exclusive RSD release, meaning it could be available at non-participating or non-indie stores and will be sold online.
Robert Smith’s not happy with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, slamming the organization online for not mentioning his just-nominated band’s current drummer in its bio of the group, writing, ‘Jason Cooper is The Cure’s drummer — and it sickens me that he doesn’t get a name check… bah!’
‘Entreat Plus’ — the 12-track, remixed version of The Cure’s 1990 live album that was included on CD and digital versions of the expanded ‘Disintegration’ set earlier this year — will be released as a 2LP vinyl set on Jan. 11 by Elektra Records.
