Bonnaroo video: Kings of Leon cover the Pixies, Tori Amos takes on The Cure

Truth be told, we’ve never done much with the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival because the Tennessee fest doesn’t spotlight ’80s college-rock grads the way, say, Coachella does every year. But here’s a little taste of the just-completed festival that we can’t resist sharing: Tori Amos reprising her solo-piano cover of The Cure’s “Lovesong” (above), and Friday night headliner Kings of Leon tackling the Pixies’ beloved “Where Is My Mind?” (below). The video’s not great on the latter clip — it’s shot from pretty far off, but the sound’s not bad. Enjoy.

Tori’s version of “Lovesong” was shockingly horrible. Pixies’s cover was unavailable. Thank you greedy execs at Vector.

  3. Are you f*cking kidding me? I am a HUGE (I have everything they have ever done, more than “connecting the dots”) Cure fan, but I have to say that I like Tori’s version better. I was never a big fan of the Cure’s. Maybe because it was the song that really made them mainstream, but I just didn’t care for it. As for Kings of Leon, I couldn’t care less. I’ll keep the Pixies.

  4. All I have to say is for those that did not enjoy the KOL’s version of “Where is my Mind?”… Suck it! Clearly you were not at the show where you could have experienced the energy. I love the Pixies, and I did not like KOL. When I went to that show, and I saw them perform live. It blew my mind. I became a fan of KOL after watching them that night because I feel like they remember what rock is about and a true test of a band is how they perform live. Nough said!
