The Slits release video for ‘Lazy Slam,’ the ‘final work’ of late frontwoman Ari Up

A day after Ari Up, iconic frontwoman of The Slits, succumbed to a long illness, her label Narnack Records has released what it bills as the band’s “final work”: a heretofore unreleased video for the song “Lazy Slam,” off last year’s Trapped Animal album. According to a press statement, “Ari Up was insistent that the video be seen and it was her wish to release it posthumously.”

In a statement accompanying the release of the video, Up’s manager, Jeff Jacquin, writes, “Ari’s true magic was how she affected people on the street, face to face every day. She ate life up and spit it out, she lived it on her own terms and never gave an inch! The Slits will live on forever and continue to change the way people feel about music and themselves and that’s just the way Ari would want it!”
