Video: Watch OMD’s 30-minute in-store concert at Amoeba Music in Hollywood

As a prelude to tonight’s Los Angeles tour stop, synthpop vets Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark played a half-hour in-store set at Amoeba Music in Hollywood yesterday afternoon — and you can watch the whole thing in the player above, thanks to the indie record chain. The performance — introduced by ex-KROQ and current 1st Wave DJ Richard Blade — includes new cuts such as “Sister Marie Says” and old favorites “Enola Gay,” “Electricity” and “If You Leave.”

  1. Just saw them on two dates of this “reunion” tour and they are fantastic. The crowd was energetic, they were energetic, and the music has the same great sound as it did 25+ years ago!! See them if you get the chance!

  2. super glad i clicked that play button. wow! fun! they sound pretty good. no way could i afford to see them live though. it’s pretty funny also, like watching a scene out of ‘Music and Lyrics’ especially with the big guy fist banging and singing his heart out in front lol

  3. These guys have always been kinda lightweight. Probably why DM smashed it after 1988 and OMD went nowhere.

  4. I really don’t think it was a competition between DM and OMD. There was no “smashing”. DM started off as sweet synthpop back in the day as well. They were different.

  5. Kent Butabi

Saw them in Atlanta, and had know idea they were that good!

  6. Without a doubt one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long long time. I’m still glowing from Saturday night!

  7. Brilliant as always,in England there were more than OMD and DP slugging out in the 80’s I thing OMD maybe now win with comming back with the energy from the early years. USA enjoy what we in England took for granted ;-)
