The Human League sets ‘Credo’ U.S. release, tour with Men Without Hats, B-52s

Classic synthpop combo The Human League has set a belated U.S. release date next month for its first album in a decade — Credo, which arrived in the U.K. this past spring — and has announced a 17-date North American tour this September that will see the act pairing up with Men Without Hats and The B-52s.

The tour opens Sept. 1 in San Diego, and finds the Human League — bandleader Philip Oakey and singers Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley — performing most of those dates, which wrap Sept. 23 in New York City, with the newly reunited Men Without Hats. The B-52s join the tour for four concerts, including the Totally ’80s extravaganza at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 2, a show that also features Berlin and The Fixx.

In advance of the tour, the band will release the 11-track Credo — its first effort since 2001′s Secrets and ninth since 1979 — in the U.S. digitally on Aug. 16 and on CD on Aug. 23, the band recently announced. The record has been preceded by the singles “Night People” and “Never Let Me Go” (you can see the video for the latter here).
