BACKSTORY: Omnivore Recordings this week releases what was intended to be the third album by Martha Davis & Co. As Davis tells it, Capitol Records rejected the New Wave act’s album as not commercial enough, although some of its songs were re-recorded and later released. The new version includes six demos and alternate takes.

BACKSTORY: Cherry Red Records this week re-issues, in the U.K., the acclaimed 1995 solo album from the former Haircut One Hundred leader, which included the singles “Rollerblade” and “The World.” The remastered 14-track album has now been expanded to include 10 rare B-sides and the A Hard Day’s Nick EP.

RELEASES: Up on the Sun
BACKSTORY: The SST rockers’ third album, originally released in 1985, sees a new vinyl reissue this week, a couple months after the band performed the album at the Animal Collective-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties in Minehead, U.K. The record features such tracks as “Maiden’s Milk,” “Away” and “Buckethead.”

RELEASES: Alpha Matrix Re:Covered Vol. 2: Tribute to Depeche Mode
BACKSTORY: The Belgian record label this week issues, in the U.S., its second tribute to synthpop legends Depeche Mode, featuring 25 re-interpretations of classics such as “Fly on the Windscreen,” “New Life” and “Walking In My Shoes” by electronic acts including Komor Kommando, Technoir and Razorfade.
