Video: Dexys perform ‘Free,’ ‘Come On Eileen’ on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’

Dexys — Kevin Rowland’s relaunched and rechristened Dexys Midnight Runners — appeared on BBC chat show “Later… with Jools Holland” on Tuesday night, trotting out something new and something old. Above, you can watch the band’s performances of “Free,” off the forthcoming One Day I’m Going to Soar, as we well as the needs-no-introduction “Come On Eileen.” Dexys’ first in 27 years is out June 4 in the U.K.

  1. Hmm, saw this last night. Free is a good song, only the needless pantomime acting and Rowland’s awful vocal stops it from being a great song.

  2. I disagree, Paul. This is how Rowland has acted/sung for over 30 years. His voice is always a bit iffy live, but his emotion & soul make up for any shortcomings. Look at the other bands–they can’t take their eyes off them.

  3. Not for me.

  4. Vocals out of tune song average embarrassing pretentious.
The emperors new clothes. Admit it kevins in the altogether!
