Flashback

Blondie, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs, The Fixx and Berlin are set to perform at Los Angeles radio station 93.1 Jack FM’s big “Flashback” concert this fall at The Theatre at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. A portion of ticket proceeds from the Sept. 21 show — which also features Rick Springfield and Sugarhill Gang — will go to Talk About Curing Autism.

A presale for the Sept. 21 concert begins at 10 a.m. PDT today (Password: flashback), with the general on-sale set for 10 a.m. PDT Friday. Tickets are $46.35 to $120, fees included.

And the station itself is giving away tickets, too.

  1. Might take a chance on this and go. Love to see the furs again and check blondie and adam ant off te list.

  2. Rick Springfield straight from his jail cell

  3. TACA? Here’s an opinion–it’s your money:

    http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2009/09/25/how-anti-vaccine-groups-rebrand-them/

“It promotes the scientifically discredited notion that vaccines cause autism; the quackery that is chelation therapy for autism (a “therapy” that has resulted in the death of a child); unproven supplements for autism; and multiple other highly dubious ideas. Moreover TACA, along with GR, was one of the sponsors of Jenny McCarthy’s “Green Our Vaccines” march on Washington in June 2008, which was anti-vaccine to the core.”

  4. I love the Psychedelic Furs, but these 80s shows are embarrassing.

    • You’re throwing a wide net, Andrew. Some are, some aren’t. At it’s best, it’s a labor of love–a chance for the bands to play, make some money, and for the fans to get a night out. I sense from your comment that you weren’t around for the Furs’ first tour! I’m smiling. Plus–this is nothing new. There’s a long history in rock/blues of like-sounding “elder” artists (anyone over 30!) touring together.

  5. Definitely worth checking out, especially for Adam Ant. I saw him in Austin last September and last month. GREAT shows both times! The man has still got it!

  6. Y’know, I love 80’s concerts but the affiliation of FLASHBACK 93.1FM JACK FM & “Talk About Curing Autism” (aka TACA) displays either an continuing lack of ignorance about the quackery that what that organization is really about… or a synergy with those beliefs, which is even more disturbing. They’ve gone through great lengths to conceal their agenda, as a lot of their more startling propaganda has ‘disappeared’ – they appear to have had a PR consultant soften their outward image from their front page all the way to deleting content but their motivation remains the same. Here’s a link to some of their anti-vaccination rhetoric. http://www.tacanow.org/tag/vaccine/

Adam Ant puts on a great show. I just saw him live and he was unbelievable. His band is fantastic and they do a great job of playing the old songs with just enough updating to make them more modern without losing the sound you remember from the 80’s. Needless to say, Adam Ant greatly exceeded my expectations with a fantastic performance.
