Playlist: Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Top 100 Songs of 1981 (Minus the 1 that’s not on Spotify)

To coincide with our just-posted Top 100 songs of 1981 readers poll results, we’ve created this accompanying Spotify playlist. As you can see (and hear), the playlist is bookended by Depeche Mode, with “Just Can’t Get Enough” at No. 1 and “Photographic” at No. 100, and 97 songs in between. What’s missing? Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” which isn’t on Spotify.

Oh, and, no, The Specials’ “Ghost Town” isn’t on here twice.

Well, yeah, Rick. The decade wasn’t perfect.

  9. Hey – I know this is 3 years too late, but “I Love RnR” by Joan Jett is now on Spotify so you can have a completed 1981 playlist – tell me i just made your weekend, go ahead, do it!

  10. Derek Gillard

Can you update with Joan Jett now?

  11. Harold Metzger
