RELEASE: The Fontana Years
BACKSTORY: This 6CD box set collects the Fall’s early ’90s albums Extricate, Shift-Work and Code: Selfish, each with a bonus disc of B-sides, mixes and more from the 2007 2CD reissues of each record.

BACKSTORY: The Futurismo label reissues the limited-edition rarities set — described as a career-spanning “sonic fusion of demos, alternate versions and outtakes” — on 4LPs and a 3-inch mini CD with previously unreleased tracks.

RELEASE: More Product
BACKSTORY: The 1979 interview compilation Some Product is reissued in an expanded 3CD set — and rechristened — with the original, out-of-print disc supplemented with two bonus discs featuring rare and unreleased interviews.

  1. That Alex Chilton album is very cool — the recording at Ardent Studios is really professional and “big budget” sounding like he took the sessions seriously, which obviously wasn’t always true with him. Great performances and sounds, and the mix of originals and covers is fun.

  3. There is a second Nick Lowe album also reissued this week – “The Rose of England”.
