PiL details massive ‘The Public Image Is Rotten (Songs From The Heart)’ box set

Public Image Ltd. this week revealed the tracklist of its upcoming new box set, a massive 7-disc collection called The Public Image Is Rotten (Songs From The Heart) that collects singles, B-sides, rarities, 12-inch mixes, unreleased material, and live sets both on CD and DVD.

The box set, first announced in February, will be released July 20 via Universal Music and will be available in a 7-disc format — that’s five CDs and two DVDs — or a 6LP vinyl version, as well as digitally. Packaged in a black-and-gold foil box, the set also will include a 72-page book, a poster and prints.

The CDs include PiL’s singles from 1978 to 2015, plus B-sides, rarities, radio sessions, 12-inch mixes, and unreleased tracks and mixes, plus a live concert from the Ritz in New York City in July 1989. The DVDs feature promo videos and footage from the BBC’s “Top of the Pops” and “Old Grey Whistle Test,” plus two more live concerts, filmed in Estonia in 1988 and Australia in 2013.
