New Order plots short North American tour — including rare concerts in Hawaii

New Order this morning revealed plans for a short North American tour around two previously announced headlining slots at U.S. festivals, saying the band will be “visiting cities they haven’t played in quite some time,” including a pair of shows on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Maui.

The seven-date tour opens Aug. 23 in St. Paul, Minn., ahead of the band’s headlining slot at the inaugural InCuya Music Festival in Cleveland, and will be followed in August by performances in Washington, D.C., and Toronto. Then, after the group’s slot at the Music Tastes Good Festival in Long Beach, Calif., on Sept. 29, of it’s off to Hawaii for two shows in early October.

Tickets go on sale beginning Friday; the band — Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert, plus Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham — advises fans to keep an eye on neworder.com for further details.
