BACKSTORY: Cherry Red Records this week continues its series of imagined sequels to the NME’s famed C86 cassette with the release of this three-disc, 72-track box set, featuring The Stone Roses, The La’s and more.



RELEASE: Achtung Baby, Zooropa, The Best of 1980-1990
BACKSTORY: The Irish mega band’s smash 1991 album and its even-more-experimental 1993 follow-up are reissued as 2LP sets on 180-gram black vinyl this week, as is the band’s best-of covering its first decade.

RELEASE: Hyperactive: The Masters Collection
BACKSTORY: The synthpop master’s oeuvre re-compiled in this new 2CD best-of set that features “She Blinded Me with Science,” “One of Our Submarines,” “Europa and the Pirate Twins” and, of course, “Hyperactive!”


The Art of Noise

RELEASE: Moments in Love: The Masters Collection
BACKSTORY: The avant-garde synthpop group is treated to a new 2CD compilation that includes “Close (To the Edit),” “Love Beat,” “Dreaming in Colour,” “Born on a Sunday” and “Moments of Love.”

RELEASE: The Very Best  of The Colourfield
BACKSTORY: Terry Hall’s second post-Speecials band is treated to a new single-disc best-of this week, a collection that includes “Thinking of You,” “Pushing Up Daisies,” “Castles in the Air” and “The Colour Field.”
