This week’s new releases: Kate Bush, The Police, The Good The Bad & the Queen, Chris Cornell

Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. 


Kate Bush

RELEASE: Remastered Part I, Remastered in Vinyl I, Remastered in Vinyl II
BACKSTORY: The first half of Kate Bush’s new remastered box sets arrive this week, a 7CD set and a 3- and 4LP sets compiling her first seven albums. A second CD box and two more vinyl boxes are out next week.


The Police

RELEASE: Every Move You Make: The Studio Recordings
BACKSTORY: Universal Music this week releases a 6LP remastered vinyl box set collecting all five of The Police’s studio albums plus a sixth LP featuring non-album recordings and B-sides.


The Good, The Bad & The Queen

RELEASE:  Merrie Land
BACKSTORY: This week sees the release of the second album from the supergroup featuring Blur’s Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon of The Clash, afrobeat legend Tony Allen and Simon Tong of The Verve. Eleven new songs.


Chris Cornell

RELEASE: Chris Cornell
BACKSTORY: This super-deluxe edition box set — a 4CD/1DVD /7LP giant with 88 tracks covers — all stages of Chris Cornell’s career, including Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave and his solo works.

  1. They need to reissue the Police albums on cassette — that’s how I bought them all back in high school. Tape hiss forever! 8-)
