  1. For next week since it’s on my Birthday

    Joy Division – Autosuggestion
    Modern English- Carry Me Down
    Ministry – Nature Of Love
    Siouxsie and The Banshees- Switch
    The The – Giant
    XTC – Great Fire

  2. Under the Big Black Sun – X

  3. Thanks very much for the Until December. Great show but Hour 2 nailed it. Great shoe gaze, Bark Psychosis, and a Nick Cave song I don’t know if I’ve ever heard before. Thanks.

Would like to request For Against on an upcoming episode please. “Amen Yves”, “Forget Who You Are”, or “Stranded in Greenland” would all work for me.

Thanks again. Have a good week.

  4. Thirwell 99

Fantastic listening, as always. Thank you.

Pretty sure it might not be darkwave, but I thought I might request “Paninaro” by Pet Shop Boys for next week? If that doesn’t work, “Knebel”, by Lindemann would be pretty great. Thanks, again, Matt.

  5. Could you pretty please play “Now And Forever” by Gary Numan?!

  6. How about “This Time Of Night” by New Order?

  7. Great set, Matt. For next week, how about Beyond Doubt by Gene Loves Jezebel?

    Thanks!

  8. Chris Lewis

Since it’s MLK weekend – Out of the Ordinary – “The Dream (Acid Mix)

    Cheers Matt!

  9. Nosferatu Man by Slint…under appreciated track deserving of some Dark Wave love!

  10. Wow Matt you really reached into the back of the shelf for some of these cuts. Nice job! Plus the Noel Burke bunnymen.

  11. The Cure – Cut

  12. Matt- Great list with nice surprises last week. Looking to hear Sanctum Sanctorum -The Damned.

  13. A super big thank you Matt for both The Cure (Fight) & Depeche Mode tracks ….But Not Tonight is hands down my favorite DM track. I think both of these songs are fitting given my city’s last month….as you may or may not know Buffalo suffered a blizzard over Christmas weekend killing 42 people. And then we had the tragic events on MNF with our Bills player. I would like to dedicate The Mission – Tower of Strength as my request this week. I think it encapsulates all we’ve been through. Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。
    GO BILLS!

  14. Another superb show from start to finish Matt. Thanks for playing The Fall. Can’t pick a fave hour this week, all three were so balanced and just perfect. Loved the Lush and Catherine Wheel and Blind Mr Jones in particular.

Been raining cats and dogs for days here in Northern California. How about Rain by Tones on Tail next week?

    Have a great week, cheers!

  15. As always, a sonic extravaganza.

    Maybe some Bolshoi (your pick)?

  16. Loved it! Never stop
Requesting ‘Michael’s Bones’ by Morrissey. Should of been a single.

  17. Another great show in the books! Thanks for all you do, Matt! I was thinking that with next Monday being MLK Day, it would be a good time to serve up either one of two Love & Rockets tracks: “An American Dream” or “Ball of Confusion.” Your choice as to which you’d like to play. Thanks again! Have a great week!

  18. Catherine Wheel, nice inclusion for sure. Early nineties they played a nearby college auditorium and the local opener was called Strobe Light Cock Fight- who were horrible of course, but the name…Also Catherine Wheel had merchandise which featured the ballet scene from Chrome printed on a vivid blue t-shirt. Very unusual color for the time. Underated band.
    * Lhasa “The Attic”
    * LFO “LFO”
    * Rhythm Section “White Lie!”

  19. With the holidays and traveling around, I’ve missed the last few weeks. I tuned in Sunday night and Wow! What an amazing show, so many great songs. I really do love this show.

Speaking of MLK day makes me want to hear,
Greater Than One: Now is the Time(London)

Also wondering if you would consider on a future episode when you are looking for some really long cuts to play Recoil:Stone off the Hydrology album. An absolute genius album that had a lot of influence on my musical tastes during my teenage years.
    Thanks again Matt.

  20. Great show, as always. How about some Birthday Party next week — Jennifer’s Veil or Say a Spell (or anything, really). Cheers, Matt!

  21. Kingly episode.

    This week’s Darkness Award:
    The The, “Kingdom of Rain”

“As cold as our bodies silhouetted by the moon”

  22. Great DW to start 2023 with!

  23. Solid playlist as always. But I have to ask.. can I get a 50th birthday shout-out on the show Sunday January 22nd and play Demons by Altar De Fay or Christian Death Dogs…. Thank you it’ll make my night.

  24. Since you played Love and Rockets, I wanted to share that I am one of the lucky 1000 (#913, to be precise) to score a copy of the box set.

Here’s an obscure request for you: Peter Gabriel “Across The River” (which features Stewart Copeland on drums).

  25. My Birthday is today, the 11th.
Could you please play Last Exit for the Lost by Fields of the Nephilim for me? One of my favoritesby them.
Once again, thank you for playing all your songs on Dark Wave. I never miss it, and I always look forward to Sundays!

  26. Great Show! Would love to request Room on the Moon by The Thrill Kill Kult. Or the song Sex Witch by them. Thanks!

  27. Ducky'sDarkBunny

She Wants Revenge “Tear You Apart”
The Birthday Party “Release The Bats”
    Dead Can Dance “Hope Downs”
    Bella Morte “Wicked”
This Mortal Coil “Song To The Siren”

My Uber Driving rides would not be complete with out your Dark Wave 3 hours of joy; new emersion; and disappearance of distance and time leading to a Happy rider and Happier Driver! My first post here. Hope it rates well!

  28. A great Martin Hannett production from 1985 for the band BLUE IN HEAVEN- album -All the Gods Men. Songs Julie Cries, It’s Saturday , Slowly. Like a Child. Whole album has that gloomy Hannett sound. Not sure if this was ever reissued on cd, but easily found on YouTube. Had this as a cassette in the 80’s.
Second album is good too. Even if this doesn’t make an episode, anyone reading this check ‘em out . Cheers!
