Longtime Ministry bassist and producer Paul Barker has just released the first song off the third record by his reactivated Lead Into Gold project, the percussive title track “The Eternal Present” — which will be followed by the full album in late April.

Artoffact Records announced Friday that it has signed Lead Into Gold and will release The Eternal Present, which is written, produced and mixed by Barker, on April 21. It can be preordered via Bandcamp.

You can hear the full title track below.

Barker was a major player in Wax Trax!-era industrial music, working with Al Jourgensen in Ministry for 17 years and also taking part in Revolting Cocks, Lard, 1,000 Homo DJs, Acid Horse, PTP, Pigface and more.

Lead Into Gold’s first incarnation released the 12-inch single “Idiot” in 1988 followed by another 12-inch, “Chicks & Speed: Futurism,” and the full-length album Age of Reason — containing the fan-favorite “Faster Than Light” — in 1990. In 2015, Barker released the Low & Slow EP, featuring 25-year-old Lead Into Gold recordings.

Then, in 2018, Barker released the first new Lead Into Gold music in a quarter-century with a 12-inch single followed by the act’s second album, The Sun Behind the Sun.

Now comes album No. 3, which Barker’s new label describes as “an adventurous romp through distorted and gnarly bass-driven industrial, where your greatest fears and dystopian dys-fantasies lay waiting for just a wee bit of courage.” And: “The album is smart, dark, melodic, abrasive and timeless.”
