Siouxsie returns to the concert stage for first time in a decade — here’s setlist and video

Siouxsie made her triumphant return to the concert stage for the first time in a decade Wednesday night in Brussels, performing a 17-song set that, naturally, was heavy on Banshees material but also touched on The Creatures and her 2008 solo album Mantaray — and included a couple well-known covers.

The concert at Ancienne Belgique was the first of 16 headlining and festival dates that Siouxsie has booked through early September, including a lone U.S. appearance at the Cruel World festival in Southern California later this month. They’re her first concerts since she performed live at the Yoko Ono-curated installment of the Meltdown festival in London in 2013.

Video of the performance shows Siouxsie backed by what appears to be a four-piece band. She played 11 Banshees songs — including classics like “Spellbound,” “Cities in Dust,” “Peek-A-Boo” and “Happy House” — plus three songs off of Mantaray, covers of The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” and Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger,” and The Creatures’ “But Not Them,” of the 1981 Wild Things EP.

Below, check out the setlist, plenty of fan-filmed video and Siouxsie’s remaining tour dates.

  1. she shouldn’t be doing Siouxsie and The Banshees nor The Creatures material.
It’s cheap. Just do solo material because The Banshees were a big part of those songs.
It’s like Beyonce doing Destiny’s Child material. Cheap!

  2. Constantine

I don’t know man, I think I’ll stick to my memories with this one ……

  3. Tania Barbour

Siouxsie Sioux has made a big effort to travel all that way, she getting older just like the rest of us, the behind the scenes stuff that goes on what people don’t see, rehearsals and stuff takes it out of you. I agree as a singer myself , until you have the balls to get up there and do it yourself, you have no right to knock it.

  4. Take Me Back

Would that excitement and honesty were the same thing. From the new look, to the voice, to that band ramshackling its way through classics… jump on my comment all you want, but I’ve seen the Banshees on every. single. tour. beginning with “Hyæna”, and this just seems sad. Better to live in the past (and dust off the old “Nocturne” vhs), that celebrate this lackluster karaoke performance.

  5. Poor Siouxsie, badly out of tune…

  6. Watched the “Cities in Dust” clip…just…not good.

  7. Carlos Araujo

After 10 long years to see her performance! It is a blessing, a real gift from the Universe. Siouxsie you may sing WHATEVER you want. Thanks for your come back. Siouxsie doesn’t care for what people say, she still has the punk attitude, and I totally agree with her.
Siouxsie, you are MY TRUE LOVE.

    • I was in two minds about getting tickets, I’m glad I didn’t. So much brilliant material to choose from and it’s the same old predictable set list. I’ll leave my memories of Siouxsie live back in the Banshees days.

  8. Ted Graves

    Those shoes. WTF.

  9. Ted Graves

In her defense, I can’t hear her over all the off-key bozos singing in the audience. At least on “Happy House”.

  10. She appears tired. And that “band”! She´s does not seem to connect with them. Kind of a karaoke. Siouxsie deserves better.

  11. It’s true, she can’t keep up literally (she starts early and ends late), inhales a lot of the words, and has a range of 2 1/2 notes now, but it’s what she wants and she never stopped until she got it before why start now. So I won’t be there, but I’m glad Land’s End is on the setlist

  12. Why? it’s her legacy, a gift to her fans.

  13. I have noticed that she is badly out of time on the singing, and it’s very distracting. I love her to death, but why doesn’t somebody say something to her? I’m wondering if perhaps there is latency on her in-ear monitoring? I can deal with the off key singing more to a certain extent, but the timing thing is just not good. :'(

  14. I was going to pay the eye watering fee to go see her but sadly I watched the gig vids and the feed back and decided to sack it. I’d rather remember her as she was, a total goddess and in my view a genuine genius .
