The Pixies are keeping the ‘Doolittle’ train rolling, announcing this morning a new round of 16 North American dates this April and May that mostly will hit Canadian cities — but with stops in Detroit, Milwaukee and St. Paul, Minn. thrown in as well.

J Mascis will unplug this spring — or, as Dinosaur Jr bandmate Lou Barlow put it, ‘pretend he’s a peace loving acoustic guy’ — for a just-announced 22-date North American tour in support of his first-ever solo studio album ‘Several Shades of Why.’

With Dinosaur Jr on break, bassist Lou Barlow is shifting focus to a revived Sebadoh, with plans to release expanded reissues of 1994’s ‘Bakesale’ and 1996’s ‘Harmacy’ this year and take the famously lo-fi act out on the road for the ‘Bakesale/Harmacy Remembering Time Tour.’

After nearly 30 years as a bandleader — first fronting Camper Van Beethoven, then Cracker, and, more recently, both — David Lowery next month will release his first-ever solo album, ‘The Palace Guards,’ billed as a ‘batch of songs that didn’t quite fit the vibe of Cracker or Camper Van Beethoven.’

For the first time in 20 years, The Godfathers will tour the U.S. in February, a 10-date trek that includes the U.K. rockers’ annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre — which we’re thrilled to announce as the first Slicing Up Eyeballs Presents concert — at Santo’s Party House in New York.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark will bring its ‘History of Modern’ tour to North America in March for a 16-date trek booked around the South By Southwest festival — the classic lineup’s first U.S. concerts since opening for Depeche Mode’s ‘Music for the Masses’ tour.

Wire will embark on a short nine-date North American tour this April in support of their 12th studio album — the 11-track ‘Red Barked Tree’ — which is due out on Tuesday, although you can now stream the record in its entirety on NPR’s website.

Mike Watt will release his third punk opera in March — the 30-track, Minutemen-inspired ‘Hyphenated-Man’ — and then embark on a massive North American tour in which he and his band The Missingmen will play the album ’51 times in 52 days.’

Former Hüsker Dü drummer, songwriter and co-vocalist Grant Hart will embark on a short tour of the mid-Atlantic and southeastern regions of the U.S. next month in support of the reissue of the long-out-of-print ‘The Last Days of Pompeii,’ the 1991 debut from his post-Hüskers project Nova Mob.

Electronic-music guru Jack Dangers will take his long-running alter ego Meat Beat Manifesto out on the road in February for a short North American tour in support of the just-released ‘Answers Come in Dreams.’

Depeche Mode Andrew Fletcher will head out on the road in late January for more than a dozen DJ dates in Eastern Europe, Australia and the Far East — including a gig in Beijing.

Although John Lydon has delayed work on a new Public Image Ltd. album over the death of stepdaughter Ari Up, the reunited band will continue performing in 2011, with two new summer festival dates announced this week in the U.K. and Slovakia.
