With its release now less than a week away, Sonic Youth has issued a short, two-minute trailer for the long-overdue DVD release of ‘1991: The Year Punk Broke,’ the concert film that chronicled the band’s tour of Europe that year with opening act Nirvana.
Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore has released a new video for ‘Circulation’ off his new album ‘Demolished Thoughts.’ He’s also got a slate of new tour dates, plus a live streaming concert via NPR that you can hear here. And Sonic Youth is headed to South America and is re-issuing ‘Hits Are For Squares.’
The fabled rock documentary ‘1991: The Year Punk Broke’ — chronicling Sonic Youth’s tour of Europe with opening act Nirvana — finally will be released on DVD this fall in a special 20th anniversary edition featuring 42 minutes of bonus performances and other material.
