The year of The Jam’s birth — 1977, the year punk broke — will be celebrated this fall with a 40th anniversary 5-disc box set, aptly titled 1977, that will include the band’s first two albums, a disc of demos, a collection of Peel session recordings and live tracks, and a DVD of TV appearances. The Jam’s Paul Weller is lining up a live CD/DVD package called ‘Find the Torch, Burn the Plans’ this fall that will feature a new Julien Temple documentary and a full live concert recorded earlier this year at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The fifth album from The Jam — 1980’s ‘Sound Affects,’ home to U.K. No. 1 single ‘Start!’ and the classic ‘That’s Entertainment’ — is set to be reissued this fall as a 30th anniversary double-disc Deluxe Edition featuring eight previously unreleased tracks.
With his 10th album, ‘Wake Up the Nation,’ vying for the prestigious Mercury Prize next month, Paul Weller is embarking on an extensive tour this fall that includes a pair of U.S. shows in New York and Los Angeles, a five-night stand in Dublin and concerts throughout Australia and the U.K.
Last night at London’s Royal Albert Hall, former Jam bandmates Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton reunited on stage for the first time since 1982 to play three songs together during the second night of Weller’s five-gig residency.
