Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. Titles out this week include U2’s new album ‘Songs of Experience,’ a reissue from the Sex Pistols, and an album by Cindy Wilson of The B-52’s.
Cindy Wilson, one of the founding vocalists of Athens, Ga., favorites The B-52s, will release her debut solo album — the electro-flavored Change — on Kill Rock Stars this fall and head out on what she’s calling an “unprecedented multimedia concert tour” of North America. Stream the first single here.
Omnivore Recordings this fall will release the soundtrack to the cult 1987 documentary ‘Athens, GA – Inside/Out’ — which chronicled the music scene that spawned R.E.M., The B-52s and more — on CD for the first time, packaging it with a DVD of the film and five bonus tracks, two of which are ‘previously unheard performances.’
