INXS will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its world-conquering 1987 album Kick with a new expanded reissue that “extends” the previous 25th anniversary reissue with a half-dozen or so more remixes and alternate versions, plus a new Dolby Atmos mix of the album by Giles Martin.
Today we count down the best reissue of 2012 as voted on by Slicing Up Eyeballs in this year’s readers poll, and the Top 10 list includes releases by Icehouse, Ministry, The House of Love, Ian McCulloch of Echo & The Bunnymen, Yazoo, Bob Mould’s Sugar, My Bloody Valentine, Peter Gabriel and more.
This week’s new releases include expanded reissues of albums from R.E.M. (‘Document’), Sex Pistols (‘Never Mind the Bollocks’), INXS (‘Kick’) and Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, plus new music from Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, with Yoko Ono, and Mark Eitzel, John Foxx and The Cure’s Robert Smith.
INXS’ 1987 album ‘Kick’ sold 6 million copies and spawned four Top 10 singles in the U.S., turning the Aussie rockers into global superstars. Now, 25 years later, the band this fall will release an expanded edition of the album featuring three CDs and a DVD packed with remixes, demos, “unheard tracks” and a documentary.

This week’s new releases include a new single from Morrissey featuring two vintage unreleased B-sides, a Norwegian-released album from Robyn Hitchcock, audiophile vinyl pressings from Echo & The Bunnymen, INXS and The B-52s, and a 3CD reissue from The Icicle Works.
INXS tonight debuted the first track off their upcoming album of re-imagined hits, a new arrangement of ‘Kick’ smash ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ with Ben Harper filling in on lead vocals for the late Michael Hutchence.
Beck’s Record Club — this time featuring Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and post-rock combo Tortoise — tonight unveiled the next album it will cover song-by-song: Yanni’s ‘Live at the Acropolis.’
And here it is: ‘Tiny Daggers,’ the final installment from Beck and his Record Club cohorts — St. Vincent, Liars and Os Mutantes — as they complete their cover of INXS’ 1987 hit album ‘Kick.’
