The R.E.M. pre-release train keeps on rolling, as the band this week released a new live-in-the-studio performance — filmed at Berlin’s famed Hansa Tonstudios — of ‘Collapse Into Now’ single ‘Mine Smell Like Honey.’

This latest round of links and stuff includes a look back at 20 years of R.E.M.’s ‘Losing My Religion,’ a talk with OMD’s Andy McCluskey, a long-lost Dream Syndicate interview and a link to watch the BBC’s ‘Reggae Britannia’ documentary.

Now less than a month away, the schedule for the South By Southwest music festival is starting to solidify, with a host of ’80s college rock vets slated to make appearances in Austin, Texas, next month — including Duran Duran, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Edwyn Collins, World Party, J Mascis and more.

On Friday, R.E.M. continued its pre-release build-up for the forthcoming ‘Collapse Into Now,’ providing Stereogum with this live-in-the-studio video of the band performing ‘Oh My Heart’ at Berlin’s famed Hansa Tonstudios.

The University of San Francisco’s pioneering college radio station — KUSF, one of the first outlets to play punk rock and whose DJs are credited with helping break bands like Depeche Mode in the U.S. — was pulled off the air abruptly this week.

Another week, another song emerges off R.E.M.’s upcoming ‘Collapse Into Now’: This time, it’s track 3 off the album, ‘Überlin,’ which is being pushed as a single in Europe.

Peter Buck is no stranger to jumping on stage for a good jam, so when former Hüsker Dü frontman Bob Mould swung through Athens, Ga., on July 25, 1990, in support of ‘Black Sheets of Rain,’ the R.E.M. guitarist pitched in on a crunchy cover of Neil Young’s classic-rock staple ‘Cinnamon Girl.’
