The Wedding Present to release ‘Valentina,’ band’s eighth studio album, in March

The Wedding Present this morning announced the release of its eighth studio album, the 10-track Valentina, which was recorded in France, California and England throughout 2011 and will be released worldwide in March in conjunction with the band’s previously announced South By Southwest appearance and North American tour.

The album, the follow-up to 2008’s El Rey, will arrive March 19 in the U.K., March 20 in North America and March 23 in Oceania, the band announced on its site today, and will be released in CD, vinyl and digital download formats. The record was mixed by Andrew Scheps, who previously has worked with Metallica, Iggy Pop and Johnny Cash.

Following their SXSW appearance, David Gedge and Co. will embark on a North American tour during which they will perform 1991′s Seamonsters in its entirety as part of that record’s 21st anniversary, in addition to tracks from the new album. Following that tour, the Weddoes will perform in Australia, Japan and Europe before playing the U.K. and Ireland this fall.
