While this week’s installment of ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM featured a host of all-too-usual suspects (The Cure’s ‘Other Voices,’ Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Rise,’ The Sisters of Mercy’s ‘Lucretia, My Reflection’), there were, as always, some pleasant surprises, including ‘Bird Mad Girl’ from the aforementioned Cure, a dash of the always-welcome Chameleons and even a Chris Connelly track.

AKA, and is set to debut his new material — and dig into Simple Minds’ back catalog — with a trio of intimate U.K. club dates this spring before embarking on a full tour.

A group of Israeli human rights activists have asked the Pixies to cancel their June 9 concert in Tel Aviv to protest ‘the military occupation the Palestinian people have been living under,’ urging the reunited band to ‘refuse to perform in Israel until there is freedom here.’
