Dinosaur Jr takes ‘Bug’ tour, Henry Rollins to West Coast for 6 shows this December

Dinosaur Jr will continue their celebration of all things ‘Bug’ by taking their ongoing tour commemorating the 1988 album — and on-stage interviewer Henry Rollins — to the West Coast for six December concerts in California, Oregon and Washington.

With its release now less than a week away, Sonic Youth has issued a short, two-minute trailer for the long-overdue DVD release of ‘1991: The Year Punk Broke,’ the concert film that chronicled the band’s tour of Europe that year with opening act Nirvana.

In December 1988, when Dinosaur Jr entered Boston’s famed Fort Apache Studios, to record a track for ‘The Bridge: A Tribute to Neil Young,’ they cut not one but two songs: ‘Lotta Love,’ which would be included on the disc alongside covers by the Pixies, The Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth, and ‘I’ve Been Waiting For You.’

Following this summer’s cassette-only reissue of ‘Bug,’ the reunited Dinosaur Jr this fall will re-release that 1988 album along with the band’s first two records — 1985’s ‘Dinosaur’ and 1987’s ‘You’re Living All Over Me’ — on vinyl this fall, the trio’s current label, Jagjaguwar, announced this week.

Indie-rock powerhouse Dinosaur Jr will reissue its 1988 album ‘Bug’ for the second time in six years later this month — but rather than a tricked-out CD, this edition will be pressed on a super-limited, hand-numbered purple cassette, the band announced today.
