R.E.M., 'Fables of the Reconstruction' 25th Anniversary Edition

With the expanded reissue of R.E.M.’s third album, 1985’s Fables of the Reconstruction, now just two weeks away, the folks at Capitol/I.R.S. are starting to give fans a taste of some of the 14 unreleased demos that make up the second disc of the set (see full details and tracklist here). Over at Consequence of Sound, you can stream the “Auctioneer” (Another Engine)” demo, while Entertainment Weekly’s got the “Can’t Get There From Here” demo. Or head over to Amazon.com for 30-second clips of everything, including the never-before-released “Throw Those Trolls Away.”

  1. I can’t wait for this. The demos should be a real treat, as the sound of this album could use a good dust off to begin with- something with a more live sound ought to be quite enjoyable.
