BACKSTORY: The New Wave icons this week release a nine-track digital edition of their first new album in three years, and 13th overall, exclusively via iTunes; CD and vinyl versions, with 12 tracks each, are expected to follow in February. The album is produced by Amy Winehouse hitmaker Mark Ronson. (See tracklist here.)

BACKSTORY: The expanded 20th anniversary 2CD reissue has been delayed until Feb. 1, but this week does see the first-ever U.S. vinyl release of the beloved debut album from the seminal British shoegazers, who were signed to Creation Records in the late ’80s. The new Rhino Records reissue is pressed on 180-gram audiophile vinyl

  2. The new DD album is actually really good, there are 5 tracks that absolutely kill. “The Man Who Stole a Leopard” has to be one of the best songs they’ve ever done.

  3. Agree about Leopard, but I don’t like the ‘news story’ at the end. Just let the music play, and let Simon’s voice carry us out. I hope they release a version w/o that.
