Free MP3: The Feelies’ ‘Should Be Gone,’ off ‘Here Before’ — first new album in 20 years

The Feelies

As tipped last fall, reunited college-rock favorites The Feelies have recorded their first new album in 20 years, a 13-track collection called Here Before that’s due out April 12 on Bar/None Records — and is preceded by the track “Should Be Gone,” the band’s first new recording since 1991’s Time for a Witness.

With members Glenn Mercer and Bill Million handling productions duties, the band — which first reunited in 2008 — recorded the new album last year at Water Music Recorders in Hoboken, N.J. Below you can download the first recording to emerge form those sessions, a song called “Should Be Gone” that’s being offered up by Pitchfork.

The band, which has performed sporadically and mainly close to home over the past couple years, has four shows on its schedule for the coming months: concerts in May and June in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. (see dates below).

  1. I love their appearance in Something Wild, great version of Bowie’s FAME.

  2. Michael Toland

I’ve heard the upcoming record – it’s amazing, picking up right where Only Life left off.

  3. Bill Burkett

It’s great to see them back together! The MP3 track shows no evidence of them having been split for 20 years! I hope they decide to come out my way!
