Luna to play first show in 10 years this spring in L.A., with more U.S. dates in the fall

Luna

Last fall, Dean Wareham announced plans to reunite his post-Galaxie 500 band Luna for the first time in a decade for shows this coming spring in Spain. Today, though, he followed that up with big news for U.S. fans: The band’s reunion will open with an April 13 show in Los Angeles, with the promise of more American dates this fall.

Luna will play its first concert in 10 years at The Echo in L.A. before heading overseas for 15 dates in Spain and Portugal beginning April 17. Tickets for the L.A. show go on sale noon PST Thursday.

On Twitter, Wareham added that additional U.S. concerts will follow later this year:

Wareham founded Luna in 1991 following the demise of famed dream-pop trio Galazie 500, and the band would release seven albums over its 13-year run. After Luna’s split, Wareham continued to make music with bassist Britta Phillips, and the two would later marry.

  1. Nice! Hopefully a Galaxie 500 reunion next.

  2. Right on, long overdue but I’m grateful it’s happening. Here’s a vote for SEATTLE and a date at the Showbox. Luna’s show there around 1998 was epic, and the venue and stage are the proper size for the band.

They played Nemo’s or whatever it’s called on the farewell tour in 2005 and it was way too small, everyone was all shoehorned in. Give us a venue with room to move! (Please.)

Luna added a whole slew of US dates in October.
There are 2 shows in Atlanta where the tour opener features the band played their classic album ‘Penthouse’ from start to finish…
