Galaxie 500’s ‘Copenhagen’ live album to receive 2LP vinyl reissue for Record Store Day

The live album recorded at Galaxie 500’s final European show — Dec. 1, 1990 in Copenhagen — will be reissued in a special 2LP vinyl edition for Record Store Day, with its nine songs stretched over three sides and a special etching filling out the fourth side of the vinyl. Full details right here.

Luna — Dean Wareham’s reunited post-Galaxie 500 dreampop act — today debuted a Rose McGowan-starring video for its new cover of The Cure’s “Fire in Cairo,” which will appear on its new covers album A Sentimental Education, due out next month. Watch it here.

In a bit of holiday synchronicity, former Galaxie 500 frontman Dean Wareham today shared video of himself and some fellow musicians performing his old band’s melancholy 1990 song “Fourth of July” on the Fourth of July itself (“4th of July on 4th of July,” he wrote). Last fall, Dean Wareham announced plans to reunite his post-Galaxie 500 band Luna for the first time in a decade for shows this coming spring in Spain. Today, though, he followed that up with big news for U.S. fans: The band’s reunion will open with an April 13 show in Los Angeles, with more American dates this fall.
