Luna covers The Cure, David Bowie, Mercury Rev on new album — hear first single

Luna — Dean Wareham’s reunited post-Galaxie 500 dreampop act — will put out its first new music since 2004 in September with the simultaneous release of a 10-song covers album called A Sentimental Education and a 6-song instrumental EP titled A Place of Greater Safety.

Both releases, due out Sept. 22, were produced by Jason Quever and recorded in Los Angeles by the reunited LUna lineup of Wareham, Sean Eden, Lee Wall and Britta Phillips.

The covers album features new recordings of The Cure’s “Fire in Cairo,” David Bowie’s “Letter to Hermione,” Mercury Rev’s “Carwash Hair,” Bob Dylan’s “Most of the Time” and more. The first single, a cover of the 1970 Fleetwood Mac song “One Together,” can be streamed below.

A variety of bundles can be pre-ordered now via PledgeMusic.
