Simple Minds tease itinerary for most extensive North American tour in 3 decades

Fans of Simple Minds living in the U.S. and Canada don’t get many opportunities to see the otherwise oft-touring act; the band last toured North America in 2013, but that was a mere seven-date run. And before that, the group had last mounted a 16-date tour in 2002.

It appears Jim Kerr and Co. are about to rectify things, though.

A short teaser video posted to the band’s Facebook page lists 24 cities in the U.S. and Canada, and the words “stay tuned” — presumably the about-to-be-announced itinerary for what promises to be Simple Minds’ most extensive North American tour since 1985’s Once Upon a Time trek.

UPDATE: Here are the full dates for the North American tour

(Following that mammoth world tour, Simple Minds returned to North America for much shorter runs in 1991, 1994 and 1995, according to the Dream Giver Redux fan site’s extensive tour history — and then not again until the aforementioned 2002 tour and 2013 run, during which Kerr urged fans to buy tickets if they ever hoped to see Simple Minds return to the U.S.)

Having released their first album in four years, Walk Between Worlds, earlier this year, Simple Minds currently have dates scheduled in the U.K. in August and September with The Pretenders. It’s not clear when the North American dates will fall.
