Talking Heads spinoff Tom Tom Club — husband-and-wife rhythm section Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz — today premiered the music video for “Downtown Rockers,” the title track of their just-released new EP, the duo’s first new release in a dozen years. The video features cameos from Debbie Harry and Richard Hell.

This week’s new releases include brand-new albums from Dinosaur Jr (‘I Bet on Sky’) and Aimee Mann (‘Charmer’), plus expanded reissues of multiple titles from Echo & The Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch and Aztec Camera, and a special U.S.-only 7-inch single from Paul Weller.

The playlist from tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” — the Sunday night “darker side of alternative” show on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave — featured Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Teardrop Explodes, Death Cult, Camouflage, The Cure, PiL and much more. “Dark Wave,” hosted by Swedish Egil, airs Sundays from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern.

Soundgarden tonight revealed the cover art and an 85-second teaser video for its forthcoming record ‘King Animal,’ the reunited group’s first new studio album in 16 years. The album arrives Nov. 13, and will be Soundgarden’s first since ‘Down on the Upside’ in 1996.

Back in June, Erasure’s Vince Clarke tweeted news that he’d “just finished ‘Fly on the Windscreen’ featuring Ane Brun on vocals and kazoo,” a somewhat cryptic message that also noted “the turtle is restless.” Well, now, three months later, we can finally get a taste of Clarke’s new recording of his former bandmates’ song.

For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present a somewhat odd pairing: Downtown Julie Brown — better known for hosting “Club MTV” than her occasional Sunday night stints — running through a “120 Minutes X-Ray” segment on U.K. post-punk act The Lucy Show on the Jan. 25, 1987, episode.

Paul Weller today unveiled details for the upcoming 30th anniversary box set of The Jam’s chart-topping 1982 album The Gift, revealing that the 3CD/1DVD “super deluxe edition” will include a 23-track live recording of a December 1982 concert from Wembley Arena and 13 previously unreleased demos and alternate tracks

Morrissey this week confirmed the full six dates of his December tour of Australia and New Zealand, which the former Smiths singer say will wrap up his 2012 tour. In addition to the previously announced concerts in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney come shows in Melbourne and Wellington — plus a second date in Sydney.

Their box set may be on hold, but Australian rockers Midnight Oil do have a new release up their sleeves: In November, the band will issue a new 2CD, 36-track best-of titled ‘Essential Oils,’ a truly career-spanning overview of the band’s catalog, sampling cuts from 1978’s self-titled debut through 2002 swan song ‘Capricornia.’

Thirty years ago today, Simple Minds released their fifth studio album, ‘New Gold Dream (81–82–83–84),’ considered by many to be the band’s commercial turning point after it hit No. 3 on the U.K. charts on the back of singles such as “Promised You a Miracle,” “Glittering Prize” and “Someone, Somewhere in Summertime.”

As we’ve reported, The Mission will document its ongoing 25th anniversary reunion this fall with a limited-edition 3-disc CD/DVD set called Silver that features two full concerts recorded last year and part of a third on either DVD or Blu-ray, plus a bonus CD featuring near-complete audio from one of the gigs as well.

Boston post-punk legends Mission of Burma released Unsound — their fifth studio album and fourth post-reunion effort — last July, but here’s the first video off the record, a clip for the song “Semi-Pseudo-Sort-of Plan” that premiered Wednesday over at Pitchfork. Check it out right here.
