Peter Gabriel’s foray into classical music continues this fall when the singer follows last year’s orchestral covers album ‘Scratch My Back’ with a collection of symphonic reworkings of his own material called ‘New Blood’ — plus the ‘New Blood: Live in London in 3 Dimensions’ concert movie filmed this part March.

With a new orchestral album on its way, Peter Gabriel today announced he’ll bring his New Blood orchestra back to North America this summer for a 12-date tour that’ll see him performing classic songs such as ‘Red Rain,’ ‘Don’t Give Up’ and ‘San Jacinto.’
Although his catalog was just put back into print last month, Peter Gabriel is planning a full series of new reissues in 2011, including an expanded 25th anniversary edition of his crossover smash ‘So’ packaged with mixes, demos and new artwork.
Today sees the release of the sixth double A-side single from Peter Gabriel’s orchestral covers album ‘Scratch My Back’: his version of the Talking Heads’ ‘Remain in Light’ track ‘Listening Wind,’ backed by David Byrne’s take on ‘I Don’t Remember,’ off Gabriel’s third self-titled album.
This week’s new releases include Peter Gabriel’s new orchestral covers album, a live Pet Shop Boys CD/DVD, Niter Ebb’s first new record in 15 years and new reissues from Pixies, Bomb the Bass and 808 State.
