New Romantic stars Spandau Ballet — who reunited in 2009 after nearly two decades — have parted ways with frontman Tony Hadley, who this morning announced in a cryptic statement that, “due to circumstances beyond my control,” he was “required to state” he is no longer part of the group.

This week’s new releases include a new collection of Billy Bragg and Wilco’s ‘Mermaid Avenue’ recordings, plus two vinyl-and-DVD reissues from Talk Talk, a box set featuring the first four albums by Spandau Ballet and the U.S. release of remix album from Nick Cave’s Grinderman.

We missed this when it was announced, but Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley is in the midst of his first-ever run of solo shows in the U.S., a six-date tour that opened Saturday in New York and hit Chicago and Los Angeles earlier this week. Luckily for us, ex-KROQ/current 1st Wave DJ Richard Blade was on hand with his camera.

Following their upcoming dates opening for the reunited Spandau Ballet in Australia, Tears For Fears will return to North America late this summer for a headlining tour of their own, with at least 17 dates announced so far in the Eastern U.S. and Canada — including a pair of free concerts.

This week’s new releases include the Gorillaz’s ‘Plastic Beach’ — featuring a reunion of The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon — plus reissues of Spandau Ballet’s first two albums and a new early-’80s best-of from The Fleshtones.

Tears For Fears will play a one-off concert in Los Angeles next month as the band rehearses for its upcoming tour supporting the reunited Spandau Ballet in Australia, bandmember Curt Smith announced yesterday.
