Peter Murphy may be hitting the road this spring with an all-Bauhaus show, but his former bandmate Daniel Ash is offering fans a far more rare and intimate experience in the form of “Truth Be Told,” an all-inclusive Las Vegas weekend of music, dining and conversation this May that will set fans back at least $2,000.

Daniel Ash — he of ’80s darkwave trifecta Bauhaus, Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets — turns 54 today, and to mark the occasion, we present this little nugget: It’s a promo for MTV’s ‘120 Minutes’ featuring a cue-card reading Ash and his Love and Rockets bandmates David J and Kevin Haskins that aired sometime around 1986.

For a band with just one album and a handful of EPs and singles, Bauhaus spinoff Tones on Tail already has been the subject of more than its share of compilations, and now comes another: ‘Weird Pop,’ a double-vinyl best-of that features at least one previously unreleased cut and several other rarities.

In honor of Daniel Ash — he of the ’80s trifecta of Bauhaus, Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets — who turns 53 today, we dug up one of the only vintage Love and Rockets live clips we could find on YouTube, this admittedly grainy, but certainly rare, footage of the band performing ‘Mirror People’ at London’s Town & Country Club in 1987.

It’s Super Bowl Sunday, and while we here at Slicing Up Eyeballs World HQ don’t really have a dog in this fight, a reader pointed us to this Indianapolis Colts fan anthem — “Do It Again (Go Colts ’10)” by the Mudkids — which samples the fuzzed-out bassline from Tones on Tail’s classic “Go.”
