Modern English cancels September tour of U.K., announces three concerts in Florida

Citing “unforeseen circumstances… beyond our control,” reunited post-punk/New Wave rockers Modern English canceled a five-date tour of the band’s native U.K. that was to have taken place this week, and instead announced a trio of concerts in Florida later this month. The band says “plans are already in motion to organize a new 2013 U.K. tour.”

The group — original members Robbie Grey (vocals), Gary McDowell (guitar), Mick Conroy (bass) and Stephen Walker (keyboards), plus guitarist Steven Walker and drummer Ric Chandler — was to have played Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and London beginning this past Wednesday. Instead, Modern English will now play shows Sept. 28-30 in Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville.

Modern English tour dates:

Sept. 5: Cockpit, Leeds, UK
Sept. 6: Classic Grand, Glasgow, UK
Sept. 7: Academy, Manchester, UK
Sept. 8: Fleece, Bristol, UK
Sept. 9: Dingwalls, London, UK

UNITED STATES:
