Still ill: Morrissey postpones 5 more concerts as doctors order 2 more weeks rest

Saying he’s been ordered to rest for two more weeks, an ailing Morrissey tonight canceled five more concerts — all in Texas — on his troubled North American tour as the former Smiths frontman continues to undergo treatment for a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus, according to his official Facebook page.

To date, Morrissey has canceled or postponed 16 concerts since falling ill Jan. 24 on his lengthy North American tour that already had been rescheduled since last fall, when he abruptly canceled the bulk of the dates to return to England to see his sick mother. So far, none of those shows have been rescheduled, although Moz has promised to do so with all but the Flint, Mich., concert.

The trek is now scheduled to resume Feb. 21 in Denver.

The statement released tonight:

As the doctor has ordered MORRISSEY to rest for two additional weeks, the upcoming Texas engagements in El Paso (2/12), Austin (2/13), Pharr (2/15), Beaumont (2/16), and Dallas (2/18) will need to be rescheduled. MORRISSEY is currently undergoing treatment for a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus. These shows are in the process of being rescheduled immediately and all patrons are encouraged to hold on to their tickets as the new dates will be announced shortly. MORRISSEY thanks everyone concerned for their well wishes and looks forward to getting back on the road. The tour will resume as scheduled in Denver at Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre on Feb 21.

  1. 5 more US cities saved from the whining f****** idiot.

You are lucky – he may still be available to play here…..i’m praying for some serious illness……

  2. Morrissey IS a bleeding ulcer!
All he seems to do these days is announce concerts and then scrap them, postpone them, cancel them etc. Even when he does “perform” he walks off stage if there is meat nearby or worse, goes on stage wearing t-shirts that insults his own fansites!
The Smiths were good (not great imo) mainly due to Johnny Marr. But Morrissey has always been nothing but a snivelling little dweeb desperate for media attention, he can go fuck himself.

  3. I was waiting for the assholes to respond to this.

  4. Morrissey is the asshole, you know its true.
