More than a year after the death of former Japan bassist Mick Karn, fans finally will get a chance to hear the ‘Dalis Car’ EP he recorded with Peter Murphy in the fall of 2010, a five-track collection that represents the briefly reunited duo’s first work together since their lone album, ‘The Waking Hour,’ came out in 1984.
Peter Murphy embarks on another U.S. tour on Thursday, and in advance of that, he spoke to Slicing Up Eyeballs about the making of ‘Ninth,’ how that record drew inspiration from the Bauhaus reunion album ‘Go Away White’ and how he re-teamed with Mick Karn to make a new Dalis Car EP prior to the bassist’s death.
Peter Murphy will return to the United States for a third round of dates this year when he brings his ongoing tour in support of ‘Ninth’ back for a run of shows throughout November and into early December with up-and-coming modern rockers She Wants Revenge.
After an extensive U.S. trek this spring and a second round of well-timed CD-release performances in June, Peter Murphy will take his tour in support of new album ‘Ninth’ across Europe in October — a 20-date campaign that includes five shows in the U.K. and four in Germany.
The briefly reunited Dalis Car — Peter Murphy and late Japan bassist Mick Karn — today released its first new music in 27 years in the form of a newly reworked version of the instrumental ‘Artemis’ with new vocals and lyrics by the former Bauhaus singer.
